Tasty Sweet Potato Chili


Sweet potato chili is a great dish to make for your family. The sweet potatoes bring a natural sweetness that balances out the savory flavors. Their hearty texture also adds to the overall enjoyment. But even better, sweet potatoes are full of good stuff like vitamins and fiber, which make the chili nutritious on top of being tasty.   • 2 lbs. hamburger
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 large can 29.5 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups petite dices tomatoes with juice
  • 3 cups beef stock
  • 3 carrots, about 1 cup
  • 5 small, sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed, about 4-5 cups
  • 2 bay leaves
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup chili powder
  • Dash of oregano
  • Dash of red pepper flakes


  1. In a large saucepan, brown hamburger, onions and garlic
  2. Drain off the fat
  3. Add the remaining ingredients to the saucepan
  4. Mix well, bring toa boil and simmer for about 30 minutes, until the sweet potatoes and carrots are tender.
